GR - Mykonos

Mykonos (Greek: Μύκονος) is a popular tourist destination in the Greek islands of the Cyclades group, situated in the middle of the Aegean Sea. Mykonos is located south of Tinos, east of Syros and north of Paros and Naxos.

To know:
Mykonos is called a worldly island with frenetic rhythms. As in Ibiza and Rimini, one does not come here to spend relaxed holidays but to participate in a lively nightlife. Typically you go to bed at dawn if not later and wake up at one and then spend the afternoon bathing or hiking in one of the many beaches on the island. At sunset we prepare again for dinner in view of another “exciting” night in the clubs of Mykonos.

Attractions in Mykonos – Chora

Little Venice (Alefkandra), Chora (westernmost part of the city). A seaside district, famous for its picturesque three-storey houses of medieval origin, which look like walls on the sea; also famous for the wooden balconies. Panagia Paraportiani, Chora (western part of the city). Of all the 400 churches in Mykonos, the most impressive is Panagia Paraportianí, an authentic Byzantine jewel. This white church, whose building dates back to 1425, but which was not completed until the 17th century, is the most photographed and visited on the island. It consists of four chapels on the ground floor and another on the upper floor. Only one of the chapels on the ground floor can be visited by tourists from early morning to sunset. The church is located in the Kastro district, the oldest section of Chora. modification
Petros the pelican, the mascot of the island, can be spotted either on the waterfront or even in the city. The pelican was originally found injured on the coast of Paranga after a storm in the 1950s by a local fisherman. The pelican was treated and remained on the island. To the displeasure of both the islanders and tourists, the pelican was hit by a car on December 2, 1985 and it was not possible to cure it. After his death, given his great popularity, a new pelican was inserted as his successor. Today there are three pelicans on the island.
