Urban centers
Roseau – The small capital on the Caribbean Sea. It is an excellent base for exploring the Morne Trois Pitons National Park and the seaside resorts in the far south of Dominica.
Portsmouth – About 32 km from the capital and always on the side of the Caribbean sea, Portsmouth is the second most populated center and also a seaside resort. The town lies in a vast bay where Christopher Columbus and pirates of the caliber of Drake landed. It is an excellent base for excursions to the nearby Cabrits park.
