AU - Melbourne
Four seasons in one day is the perfect description of Melbourne’s climate. Winter is mild, with temperatures always above freezing and above 10-15 degrees in the daytime. Summer can be very hot, above 40 degrees but don’t be caught unprepared: in a few minutes the temperature can drop by 20 degrees. Autumn and spring can have temperatures above 30 degrees but, if the wind blows from the arctic, they can drop down to 10 °. Amazed? But this is exactly what “Four Seasons in One Day” means.
The most recommended months to visit Melbourne are obviously the summer months, with February probably the most stable month in high temperatures:
January: temperatures fairly stable and around 30 degrees with peaks of 40 or 20 anyway (as we said). The New Year is spectacular, the city is closed for celebrations. The main event of the month is the Australian Tennis Open.
February: it’s still summer, the sea can be reached by tram and St. Kilda is the district where life moves to Melbourne. The main event is the St. Kilda Festival which lasts for a week with many free events. CBD is filled with people who roam bars, restaurants, open-air cinemas and events every night.
March: the district in the spotlight is still St. Kilda with the F1 Grand Prix in Albert Park.
In the Events section you will find a detail of the events with emphasis on the summer months.
