NF - Norfolk Island
The island was discovered in 1774 by Captain James Cook. It was a penal colony dependent on New South Wales until 1855. In 1856, the descendants of Fletcher Christian and the other mutineers of the Bounty from the Pitcairn islands who had a population made redundant, disproportionate to the modest ones, moved there under the concession of Queen Victoria resources.
Still today a large part of the island’s 2000 inhabitants descend from the mutineers. There are restrictions on Australian citizens wishing to visit Norfolk.
