FRIDGE MAGNETS

All seasons are suitable for visiting Australia.

The North has essentially two seasons, the rainy season, between November and April, and the dry one, between May and October. Temperatures are always around 30-35 degrees but humidity rises during the rainy season. It is recommended to visit the North between May and September, with June, July and August probably the best months.

South Australia has the opposite seasons from the northern hemisphere, which is why the solstice of December 21st marks the beginning of summer while that of June 21st marks the beginning of winter. Temperatures are mild even in winter, never below freezing with highs of 15-20 degrees during the day.

As already mentioned, Australia is an immense country. Thinking about visiting it all in a month, despite being a feasible project, would be a very stressful journey. It is also really difficult to have a month in which the season is good in both North and South Australia. Focus your trip on one or two of the areas listed below:

Southeast (Nov-Apr): Melbourne, Sydney, the entire southeast coast and Tasmania
West (Nov-Apr): Perth and the whole west coast from the Margaret River peninsula to Exmouth where whale snorkeling awaits you
North (May-Oct): the Great Barrier Reef, Kakadu National Park and the Top End of the Northern Territory, Darwin, Broome
Center (all year round): Kata Tjuta – Uluru National Park, Watarrka – Kings Canyon National Park, Western MacDonnell Ranges and Alice Springs
