UG - Uganda

The territory of Uganda is characterized by the presence of numerous lakes, rivers (the most important of which is the White Nile), equatorial forests and savannas. In the southern part it is crossed by the equator. The total surface is equal to 241.038 km², 36.330 of which are inland waters.

Much of the country is located on a plateau at about 1000 m a.s.l. with a rather rainy climate; only the northern part is semi-arid. The lowest point of the country is at the low course of the Nile at about 610 m a.s.l. while the highest peak is Mount Stanley (5,110 m asl) in the Ruwenzori chain.

The territory of the flat areas is mainly occupied by the savannah.
