Education in Morocco is compulsory for children aged 6 to 15; illiteracy has dropped from 40% in 2004 to 28% in 2012.

Morocco boasts one of the oldest universities in the world: al-Qarawiyyin University, one of the most important Muslim spiritual centers: founded in 859 by Fatima Al-Fihriya, the university is located in Fès.

The Moroccan health system is in a phase of important development: above all thanks to the new intervention of King Mohammed VI, new hospitals have been built, following a setting very similar to that used in European states.
