FR - France

When to go:
If possible, French school holidays and national holidays should be avoided, as the probability of finding fully booked hotels is very high, as well as terrible road traffic.

The climate is very varied, but tends to have temperate winters and mild summers over much of the territory, and especially in Paris and Normandy. Mild winters and hot summers along the Mediterranean and in the southwest (the latter being very rainy in winter). Mild winters (very rainy) and cool summers in the north-west (Brittany). Cold winters and hot summers along the German border (Alsace). Cold and particularly generous winters of snow in mountain regions such as the Alps, Pyrenees and Auvergne.
